Under normal circumstances, Massachusetts residents are like any other citizens around the country. We lead full lives with any number of pressures on a daily or weekly basis. Most recently, we are all dealing with the crushing impact of a worldwide pandemic and the stress is running high.

Needless to say, when residents of Orleans do venture out or when out-of-state residents drop in for a short stay, vacation, or day reprieve from the repetition of the pandemic, they often take the opportunity to hang back, relax and enjoy the sites and sounds of Orleans.  This can often lead to any number of circumstances, some of which will involve imbibing at a local eatery. Regardless of how it happens, it is possible to get into a discussion that leads to an argument that further escalates. While things may not necessarily get violent, they can easily become disorderly.

Different Than Other States

In the state of Massachusetts, disorderly conduct, unlike in other states, is part of a trio of charges that include both prostitution and indecent exposure. In the case of the latter, penalties are applied the same in case of criminal charges as they all fall under the same exact statute.
